The person assuming this position will be sympathetic to and uphold the mission of St. John's United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Conference and Denomination, and the Christian faith, and will not knowingly impair the mission in any way. Duties and Responsibilities Integration / Collaborates with Outreach To facilitate evangelism through events like Goshen Market, Community Concerts, Halloween Parade and other opportunities to be invitational in the community To facilitate healthy and helpful first steps into the life of the church by working with the welcome center, greeters, ushers, and other entry points into the church To facilitate good follow-up with guests and visitors through intentional use of the database and pictorial directory. To facilitate responsible movement through a process of involvement to a point of commitment. Bridge to Study & Service Help facilitate Small Group & Study in Collab. w/ Adult Discipleship Collaborates with CYFM Coordinator for continuity in discipleship through the life span Collaborates with Servant Ministry Coordinator to connect people with meaningful community service opportunities Collaborates with CNLD to connect people suitably with committee and team service opportunities Collaborates with Congregational Care as Staff Care Contact for: Following up with families with New Babies Connecting with families through Funerals Connecting with families through Weddings Work Schedule Part-time position of up to 20 hours per week Attend Staff, Administrative Council, Vision Attend Welcome Luncheons Attend worship services on a regular basis with rotation of services when possible in order to interact with as many people as possible. The vacation schedule shall be in accordance with the Church personnel policy. It is the responsibility of the person in this position to keep the Directing Pastor informed of vacation plans. Working Relationship This position is under the general supervision of the Directing Pastor, and with oversight by the Staff Parish Relations Committee. The Directing Pastor, in conjunction with the SPRC, determines employment. Compensation is recommended by the Directing Pastor and the SPRC and is approved by the Administrative Council. Evaluation of this position will be prepared annually by SPRC per United Methodist Church (UMC) guidelines. Skills, Qualifications and Continuing Education College degree required. Skills or experience in marketing, communication, teaching, or Christian education preferred. Strong Christian faith with a genuine love for the body of Christ. Demonstrated understanding of United Methodist beliefs, doctrines, traditions, and social principals. Strong management skills. Knowledge of and ability to use social media. Opportunities for continuing education or training as deemed necessary by the SPRC and as required by the UMC. Pass a background check.
