This role is about much more than childcare. It is an opportunity to create environments of belonging, wonder, play, and spiritual formation for children ages 0-6 and their families. Through story, relationships, creative exploration, and simple spiritual practices, we seek to nurture children's faith while partnering with families as they weave faith into everyday life. We Value Children feeling safe, known, and delighted in Imagination, curiosity, and spiritual wonder Play-based, developmentally appropriate faith formation Simple, accessible faith practices for families Relationships marked by respect, collaboration, and care Ministry that reflects joy, humility, authenticity, and flexibility Position Summary Reports to: Next Gen Director The Early Childhood Ministry Leader partners with the Next Gen Director to cultivate meaningful faith experiences for young children and their families that reflect the theology and values of Valley Presbyterian Church. You will design engaging Sunday morning experiences for children, support and encourage volunteers, and help create a welcoming environment where children and families can grow in faith and belonging. This is a 10-12-hour-per-week position. Regular Sunday morning attendance is required. Availability for a weekly Tuesday morning staff meeting is also required, with in-person attendance preferred. Typical Weekly Rhythm Sunday morning ministry: 3-4 hours Planning and collaboration: 2-3 hours Weekly preparation and classroom setup: 2-3 hours Volunteer coordination, family communication, and administration: 2-3 hours Hours will vary slightly throughout the year depending on the church calendar and special events. Key Responsibilities Sunday Ministry Design and lead play-based faith experiences for children ages 0-6. Use storytelling, movement, music, creativity, and simple spiritual practices to help children experience God's love and learn about Jesus. Create welcoming spaces where children can grow in faith through relationships and play. Preparation & Administration Prepare weekly materials and learning environments. Maintain classroom supplies and resources. Coordinate volunteer schedules and weekly communication. Support check-in/check-out procedures and attendance records. Collaborate regularly with the Next Gen Director. Volunteer Leadership Encourage, equip, and support volunteers. Foster a culture of warmth, collaboration, and shared purpose. Provide practical guidance so volunteers feel confident and valued. Family Engagement Build caring relationships with children, parents, and caregivers. Share simple ideas that help families practice faith at home. Communicate regularly through weekly updates and personal conversations. Help every family feel welcomed, known, and connected. Compensation $28

Paid preparation time is included within the weekly hours.
