Job Description

Job Summary Wheeler United Methodist Church seeks an energetic, creative, and spiritually grounded leader to serve as Part-Time Director of Children and Youth in an environment that encourages intergenerational ministry, including worship. We have a vibrant, growing children's ministry and a small but faithful youth ministry, with enormous potential for growth in both areas due to new housing development around us. We are looking for someone experienced in working with children and youth in a faith setting, and though it is not required applicants be United Methodist, we are wanting someone who is supportive of United Methodist theology and practice. In addition to being energetic, creative, and spiritually grounded, we appreciate good organizational and communication skills. A good working knowledge of today's uses of technology would be a plus. Qualifications Spiritually grounded with a vibrant and growing faith. Creative and energetic, willing to explore new ways of doing ministry. Leadership experience in planning and managing children's and youth ministries within a local church setting. Strong communication and relational skills with the ability to connect effectively with children, teens, parents, volunteers, and other church staff members. Knowledge of developmental stages for children and adolescents as well as a background in teaching and facilitating programs that foster faith development and spiritual growth. Experience in event planning, fundraising, or community outreach initiatives Ability to mentor volunteers and fostering a positive team environment. Willingness to work within and support the theology and practice of the United Methodist Church. Join us in making a meaningful difference!
