Job Description

Position Summary The Director of Family & Children's Ministries develops and leads ministries that support the spiritual growth of children (infant-5th grade), parents, caregivers, and preschool families. This role builds bridges between the whole church and local families, especially single-parent households, the St. John Preschool, and our partner Elementary schools, while ensuring alignment with the beliefs, doctrines, discipline, and values of The United Methodist Church. This position serves as a bridge that complements the existing youth ministry. Responsibilities Lead family and children's programming (Sunday ministry, milestone celebrations) and participate in Sunday worship. Coordinate Sunday morning nursery, including curriculum and spiritual formation. Develop family-focused ministries, e.g. Parent Coffees, Parents' Night Out, Family Nights, seasonal events like our Easter Egg Hunt. Partner with St. John Preschool to engage families and cultivate disciples. Coordinate childcare at events. Recruit, train, and equip volunteers to serve in Family & Children Ministries (Safe Sanctuaries compliance). Collaborate with pastor/worship team to integrate children and their families into worship. Provide care and support for families; organize parent support resources when needed. Ensure Safe Sanctuaries, budgets, and communication systems are in place. Liaise with youth ministry for scheduling and shared events without assuming youth responsibilities. Liaise with partner schools to support and build relationships, including volunteering 1 hour/week. Best Fit Active Christian faith along with a deep respect for and willingness to adhere to UMC beliefs, values, and discipline. Experience in children's or family ministry (2+ yrs preferred). Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills. Models Wesleyan values of grace, discipleship, social holiness, and connectional ministry; and participates in UMC-appropriate training. Familiarity with Safe Sanctuaries and child protection practices. Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education required. Must be able to pass a background check. Accountability Reports to Pastor & SPRC. Annual review based on family engagement, volunteer development, Safe Sanctuaries compliance, and program quality. Compensation Part-time (20-25 hrs/week), $20,000-$25,000 annually based on experience. Additionally, continuing education and mileage reimbursement for approved duties is provided. This role may expand to full-time as programs grow and budget allows.

$20,000.00 - $25,000.00 per year
