Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries to lead, inspire and grow our church's youth and young adults in their spiritual journeys. The person assuming this role will be responsible for coordinating all phases of our church's youth ministries, college age ministries and young adult ministries, ensuring that youth and young adults feel valued, supported, and empowered to live out their faith. YOUTH MINISTRIES
Group and Program Building Invite youth into the life and service of our church Create and implement strategic plan designed to increase the impact of FMC's youth program in the lives of the youth in and around our community Recruit and train youth volunteers for all aspects of our youth program and ensure adequate volunteer support and adult to youth ratios are maintained Ensure all volunteers are trained and approved though our Ministry Safe system Attend events our youth are involved in outside of church. Examples include lunch at schools, attending sporting events, band events and other similar activities. Mission and Outreach Plan, schedule, prepare, implement and lead all major activities for youth such as: Summer Mission Trip Quarterly local Missions Summer Youth Activities Coordinate and lead Sunday School, Wednesday night and mission trip activities Coordinate and schedule travel arrangements for all youth activities Be an advocate for youth and educate the congregation about the hopes, concerns and needs of youth in the local church and community In consultation with the Senior Pastor, coordinate and lead an annual confirmation class Plan and implement fundraising opportunities for youth activities Participate in all functions related to the youth of the congregation
COLLEGE AND YOUNG ADULT MINISTRIES
Invite young adults, college age through age 35, into the life and service of our church Connect young adults to Christian education and faith formation opportunities Create regular fellowship and programming opportunities for young adults Serve as a trusted peer for young adults who seek guidance and care Develop effective small groups for college-aged students and young adults Foster intergenerational connections between college students and young adults with older adults in the church Develop a comprehensive ministry plan that involves seasonal events, retreats, service opportunities and mission trips for college students and young adults Build and maintain a cohesive relationship between the college age ministry and the youth ministry to ensure smooth transitions for graduating high school students Be proactive in keeping the college age and young adult ministries in alignment with the mission of First Methodist Church Oversee budget and expenditures for the
