The Roman Catholic Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE) provides leadership, coordination, and administration of Roman Catholic faith formation and sacramental preparation programs for Marine Corps Base Quantico. Working under the direction of the Roman Catholic Chaplain/Priest and Command Chaplain, the CRE develops, implements, and manages religious education programs for children, youth, and families while supporting the overall Command Religious Program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Religious Education Program Management Develop and implement annual Roman Catholic religious education programs for Pre-K through Grade 12 Create annual Religious Education Plans, curriculum recommendations, and program schedules Coordinate student registration and maintain religious education rosters Oversee faith formation resources for homeschool families Maintain attendance records and prepare annual program reports Coordinate annual calendars, sacramental preparation schedules, and educational activities Sacramental Preparation & Youth Ministry Coordinate First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation preparation programs Plan and lead First Reconciliation and First Communion retreats Coordinate Confirmation retreats, service projects, and youth ministry activities Organize Children's Christmas Liturgy and related faith formation events Coordinate annual youth conferences, pilgrimages, mission trips, and service activities Assist with sacramental notifications in accordance with Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS) requirements Volunteer Recruitment & Training Recruit, train, and supervise catechists and classroom volunteers Coordinate AMS catechist certification and youth protection training Ensure volunteers complete required background checks and mandatory reporting requirements Provide instructional resources and teaching materials Vacation Bible School Coordination Coordinate with the Protestant CRE to plan and execute annual Vacation Bible School programs Develop and oversee Roman Catholic curriculum tracks Recruit and manage volunteers Coordinate logistics, registration, and program support activities Required Qualifications Baptized and Confirmed member of the Roman Catholic Church Ability to obtain AMS Catechist Certification within one year of hire Experience and knowledge of Roman Catholic theology, catechesis, and sacramental preparation Knowledge of Catholic faith formation, Vatican II catechetical principles, and OCIA processes Experience working with children, youth, and families in a ministry or educational environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint Ability to pass all required background investigations and installation access requirements Preferred Qualifications Previous experience supporting military chapel programs AMS Catechist Certification Experience coordinating retreats, youth ministry, and sacramental preparation programs Experience recruiting and managing volunteers Familiarity with AMS religious education programs and requirements Work Schedule Flexible schedule coordinated with the Roman Catholic Chaplain and Command Chaplain Regular Sunday support required Academic year programming typically runs September through June Additional hours required for retreats, youth events, conferences, and sacramental celebrations Work Environment Primarily performed at Marine Corps Base Quantico Chapel and Chapel Annex Frequent interaction with military families, volunteers, clergy, and chapel leadership Collaborative ministry environment supporting military personnel and their families Professional Standards The Roman Catholic CRE must: Maintain fidelity to Roman Catholic teachings and practices Demonstrate professionalism and sound judgment Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards Comply with all DoD, AMS, and chapel policies Serve military families with respect, compassion, and excellence
