Job Description

Wage:
$36,000 - $40,000 Position Summary The Admission Counselor is responsible for the recruitment, counseling, and admission of prospective students to Luther College. This position manages recruitment efforts within an assigned geographic territory and serves as a primary point of contact for prospective students and their families, school counselors, and community partners throughout the college search process. The Admission counselor develops and executes a territory recruitment plan under the direction of senior staff, evaluates applications for admission, meets with individual students, presents to groups, communicates proactively with prospective students, and participates in campus visit programs. This position also serves as liaison to select campus partners/departments and collaborates on strategic recruitment projects. Extensive travel is required over both fall and spring recruitment seasons. Occasional overnight and weekend travel is required throughout the year. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Territory Recruitment and Enrollment Manage and implement a recruitment strategy for an assigned geographic territory. Build and maintain relationships with prospective students and their families, high school counselors, community-based organizations, and other key partners. Plan and conduct high school visits, attend college fairs and community events, and represent the college at other recruitment events. Monitor territory performance and adjust recruitment strategies based on enrollment goals and market conditions. Communicate with students and families via email, text, phone, virtual meetings, and in-person interactions. Student and Family Engagement Conduct admissions conversations with individual students and families. Provide accurate and timely information regarding academic programs, student life, financial aid, scholarships, and the admissions process. Assess and respond to student needs and opportunities throughout the recruitment process. Application Review and Admissions Operations Evaluate applications for admission in accordance with institutional policies and enrollment objectives. Maintain accurate records regarding admission and scholarship recommendations. Utilize the institution's CRM for admissions processes, communication, and data analysis. Events and Campus Visits Participate in the planning and execution of campus visit programs, off-campus admitted student events, and other recruitment events. Assist with campus visit coverage, including counselor chats and event presentations. Strategic Projects and Campus Partnerships Serve as liaison to assigned departments and campus offices. Lead or contribute to strategic projects supporting enrollment goals, student recruitment, and visitor engagement. Participate in departmental planning, training, and assessment activities. Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:
Education :
Bachelor's degree in any major required. Must have strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Familiarity with liberal arts colleges and fluency in a second language are desirable.
Experience :
One year of relevant experience preferred. Experience in sales, marketing, communication, counseling, or higher education is a plus. Strong written, and verbal skills. Must be enthusiastic, goal-oriented, self-motivated, team-oriented, and capable of representing Luther energetically and positively to prospective students and their parents. Sense of humor is desirable. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that will enable them to be insured through the college. This position requires traveling on a regular basis throughout the year. Occasional overnight and weekend travel is required throughout the year.
