The Admissions Office at SUNY Potsdam is accepting applications for a full-time Admission Counselor. Job Requirements & Essential Functions of the
Job:
This position will include all aspects of recruiting prospective students in a territory management setting. Duties will include, but are not limited to, application review, personal outreach, tele-counseling, answering email and phone inquiries, creating, and administering face-to-face presentations to both small and large groups. Conducting individual appointments in a variety of settings including face-to-face and virtually. Interviewing prospective students and families as well as attendance at on and off campus events. Recruitment travel for a minimum of 12-15 weeks which will include areas both in and out-of-state. Some evening and weekend hours will be required. This full-time position has a 12-month obligation. It is anticipated that there will be multiple appointments made from this search.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree Effective communication skills: oral, written, and interpersonal Ability to develop and deliver presentations Ability to work collaboratively in team environments Ability to master knowledge of programs/services available to college students Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures Valid driver's license at time of appointment Ability and willingness to travel 12-15 weeks per year We are seeking candidates who possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues, and who have demonstrated a commitment to creating, fostering, and sustaining an inclusive environment in and out of the classroom and the workplace.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree One to three years' experience in college admissions or other areas of higher education. Knowledge of SUNY Potsdam and surrounding region Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues Familiarity with Banner software; Technolution's Slate CRM We are, especially, seeking candidates who have engaged in professional development activities to enhance knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion and have worked collaboratively across various departments in fostering success of underrepresented groups and a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
