Admissions Liaison:
Are you a relationship-builder who loves navigating complex puzzles to help people? We are looking for a dynamic Admissions Liaison to serve as the face of our community. In this role, you aren't just filling beds—you are guiding families, hospital discharge planners, and seniors through one of life's most challenging transitions. You will blend the heart of healthcare with the strategy of sales and the technical knowledge of insurance navigation (MaineCare, Medicare, and commercial insurance) to ensure a seamless entry into our care teams. What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities) Drive Census Growth (Sales): Actively build and maintain relationships with hospitals, physicians, discharge planners, and community organizations to drive referrals. Respond rapidly to referral inquiries, conduct clinical and financial pre-screenings.
Coordinate Transitions:
Work hand-in-hand with our internal clinical team to ensure we can safely and beautifully meet the needs of every incoming resident. What We're Looking For (Qualifications)
Insurance Savvy:
Strong foundational knowledge of Medicare, commercial insurance, and MaineCare guidelines. You should know how authorizations work and how to explain them.
The Sales Mindset:
A proven track record of building referral networks, managing a pipeline, and converting inquiries into move-ins.
Local Roots:
Deep familiarity with regional Maine healthcare networks and hospital systems is highly preferred.
Travel:
Ability to travel locally within our regional catchment area for hospital visits and community networking. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish excellent relationships with referral sources and community members. Clinical review of potential admissions and contact with patient/family to prepare them for admission. Expedites flow of admissions through timely decision making and collaboration with all involved parties as necessary. Obtain verification or authorization of payment source(s), as needed Document referrals and outcomes of each potential referral, as needed Maintain an Admission Log, as needed Understand the impact of reimbursement for various payer sources including, but not limited to, Medicare, MaineCare and Managed Care Maintain daily census and mix goals per facility budget. Produce required reports, summaries and recommendations. Make regular visits to area hospitals to inquire about referrals and build relationships. Effectively communicate admission information to Admission Associate/Assistant or facilities in a timely manner. Effective and timely collection of clinical data relevant to the patient/resident's care, MDS completion and care plan development. Obtains precertification from insurance, as needed Promote excellent customer service skills and role-model consistently. Collaborate with supervisor regarding written policies and procedures associated with admissions and associated functions. Represent the facilities at vendor fairs, expos and functions related to marketing and sales activities. Maintain excellent working relationships with all internal and external colleagues. Other duties as designated by supervisor.
SAFETY AND SANITATION
Follow established standard and safety precautions in the performance of all duties. Report to the Director of Plant Operations or Supervisor any hazardous condition or equipment immediately. Participate in all mandatory in-services.
RESIDENTS' RIGHTS
Ensure that you treat all residents fairly, and with kindness, dignity, and respect. Review the resident rights completely, some rights include, but are not limited to the following: The right to participate in care decisions and address residents by their name of choice. Ensure that all nursing care is provided with privacy, so be sure to knock before entering the resident's room. The right to the doctor of one's choice.
Requirements:
Three to five years of clinical, marketing/community relations, customer service or case management experience. Baccalaureate degree preferred. Must be able to write the English language in a legible and understandable manner. Ability to nimbly operate basic office machines and computer software. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public. Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel. Must be willing to seek out new methods and principals and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices. Ability to organize and manage competing priorities.
