Children's Mobile Crisis Response Team Member Working Title:
Team Member This position involves providing team-driven, on-site, crisis intervention and support services to children and adolescents who have known serious emotional disturbance (SED), and are directly involved with Jefferson County DHR. This individual is responsible for providing crisis intervention services with the assigned Team Leader. The primary mission of the intervention is to de-escalate crisis situations, prevent out of home placement, prevent unnecessary psychiatric hospitalizations, and provide access to local resources and supports.Supervised By:

12 hour rotating day or night shift (including holidays and weekends), as assignedPRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for responding on-site to mental health related crisis situations with Team Leader Responsible for providing crisis intervention, de-escalation, and support services to children and adolescents who are eligible for services Responsible for assessing mental health needs of the child/adolescent, and identifying necessary resources and supports Responsible for linking children/adolescents to resources and supports within the agency, DHR, and/or the community within 24 hours Responsible for providing accurate documentation in clinical charts via electronic medical record Responsible for providing case updates to the MCT Coordinator during weekly staff meetings Responsible for providing case consultations and follow-up information to Jefferson County DHR for each intervention provided Perform outreach in partnership with Jefferson County DHR, local emergency departments, local police jurisdictions, juvenile court, schools, and community agencies Responsible for internal communication and collaboration with the MCT staff, to include Coordinator, Team Leader, Therapist, Care Coordinator, and Phone Triage staff Provide transportation to children and families when appropriate Maintains data as required by the agency, DMH and Jefferson County DHR Performs other administrative duties as requiredMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in psychology, social work, counseling or other related human services field with an emphasis on crisis intervention for children and adolescents is required. Two years experience working with the children/adolescents with seriously emotionally/behaviorally disturbance and their families in a community setting with an emphasis on crisis intervention is preferred. Valid Alabama driver's license and a suitable automobile to permit the required travel. Must show car insurance equal to or in excess of the State of Alabama standards for automobile insurance coverage.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and de-escalation skills Knowledge of and willingness to work as a member of team Knowledge of the special needs and behavioral characteristics of severely emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children and their families Knowledge of child welfare services Knowledge of and adherence to professional and ethical principles Demonstrable communication skills - both expressive and written Ability to utilize multiple electronic and computer-based programs, including an electronic medical record system Knowledge of psychotropic medications to include their use and their side effects Knowledge of community and available resources Skilled in interpersonal relationships and dynamics Understanding of field safety Ability to work flexible hours due to the special needs of the children and their familiesSimilar jobs in Birmingham, AL
