SUMMARY:
Creates a developmentally appropriate pre-kindergarten program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth while making sure an effective rapport is established with students, families, staff members and outside community agencies. Motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and the knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary school success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide childcare services for children in a preschool classroom environment.
Supports and develops plans related to goals set for individual children.
Communicates effectively with pre-kindergarten children 2-5 years of age and adults from a variety of ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
Maintains ongoing communication (written and verbal) with parents/guardians.
Identifies student needs, makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual. education plans under the direction of Arizona Child Find Tracking requirements.
Maintains all aspects and provisions of confidentiality related to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Works with district specialists as appropriate.
Attends required preschool workshops, trainings and meetings as required by the Arizona Department of Health Services and the District.
Sets student goals and monitors and evaluates student progress using district recommended techniques.
Establishes and maintains good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Other job related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must provide documentation of the following requirements:
A teacher-caregiver is 18 years of age or older and provides the licensee with documentation of one of the following: a. Six months of child care experience
i. AND A high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma; OR ii. At least 12 credit hours from an accredited college or university, including at least six credit hours in early childhood, child development, or a closely-related field.
OR
b. Associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood,
child development, or a closely-related field; OR N.A.C., C.D.A., or C.C.P. credential.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS
Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
Possess a negative Mantoux TB Skin Test administered within 12 months of hire date or a health care provider's written and dated statement stating incumbent is free from infectious active TB issued within 6 months of hire date.
Obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's card.
Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ
IVP FPCC
).

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work, and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light work.
Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor, school environment, although outside work is sometimes required.
