JOB SUMMARY
The Youth & Children's Ministry Coordinator will support the efforts of GMUMC to advance its mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world, along with implementing its vision as determined by its Governance Board. To that end, the Youth & Children's Ministry Coordinator makes a commitment to: Give major focus on inviting and drawing in youth and children in our community, and their families, to participate in the ministry efforts of GMUMC. Contribute to the development, and growth of GMUMC's youth and children's ministry efforts. Plan, develop, and coordinate/plan youth and children's ministry programming, including Sunday School, community events, summer camps, mission projects/trips, community outreach, fundraisers, among others, in coordination with GMUMC leadership. Recruit volunteers and coordinate volunteer support and participation youth and children's ministry programs mentioned above. Train youth and children's ministry volunteers on the United Methodist Safe Sanctuary program and policy. Give oversight to the church nursery and its workers (future - when applicable). Collaborate with Gila Mountain Christian Academy (hereafter GMCA) staff and volunteers to partner in shared ministry efforts. Participate in GMCA events (such as Coffee Connections) to connect with GMCA families to develop relationships and invite them to participate in GMUMC children's ministry efforts and events. Create, manage, and monitor Children's Ministry Budget. Work under the direct supervision of the GMUMC Pastor and SPRC. Adhere to the schedule assigned by the Pastor, in consultation with the Governance Board and SPRC, to ensure that the Youth & Children's Ministry Coordinator work hours are used effectively. The Youth & Children's Ministry Coordinator will arrive youth and children's ministry events, program functions, at least 15 to 30 minutes before the start of the event/function, and will inform the Pastor and/or function/event coordinator if that will not be the case due to an emergency or unforeseen event. Weekly interaction with families of youth and children, and church staff, to maintain a general church programming and calendar, including special events. Attend GMUMC Staff Meetings as scheduled by the Pastor (monthly or when needed). Report to, and participate in, GMUMC Governing Board monthly meetings. Network with other community churches and community organizations to explore opportunities to partner in shared ministries. Provide proper promotion for the GMUMC newsletter (Faith Matters), church websites, and social media accounts for community outreach, ministry events, activities, and programs. Actively explore opportunities to participate in community events to establish relationships that can lead to the implementation of GMUMC mission and vision. Ensure appropriate supplies and activity spaces are available for programs, activities, and events. Coordinate with Office Administrator to ensure all background checks on all volunteers working with children in congruence with GMUMC's Safe Sanctuaries policy. Maintain the program operating budget and exercise responsible use of the church credit card in accordance GMUMC Policies and Procedures. Track statistical information for Tables
I, II, & III
in collaboration with the Office Administrator and Pastor. Meet with the pastor on an on-going basis for mentoring, coaching, and planning, and supply viable reports monthly or as needed. Serve as an effective role model for the children and youth, with their parents, and the staff in accordance to United Methodist teachings. Participate in trainings and continuing education opportunities as assigned by the Pastor and SPRC. Additional duties, relating to youth and children's ministry, and the mission and vision of the church, as assigned by the Pastor and SPRC.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least one year of experience working with children/youth in a leadership/management role. Bilingual (fluent in both English and Spanish). Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to qualify for position. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Must be proficient with relevant social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Snap Chat, TikTok, CANVA, etc.)

An individual with a strong sense of calling to children's ministries with knowledge of child development Willingness and ability to work with children and families with diverse Cultural backgrounds Self-starter able to work independently and in team settings to problem solve, plan, and organize Able to build positive and constructive relationships with children, parents, grandparents, the church and its staff, and the larger community Must have an interest on creating inclusion and diversity in the church and the greater community Excellent time management and multi-task skills, and prioritize work in individual and team settings Spirit-led, diversity-driven, patient, and resilient Compensation GMUMC desires to have the services of a Youth & Children's Ministry Coordinator who is willing to be employed by GMUMC as a part-time employee, working 10 to 15 hours per week, at a starting hourly rate of $18.00 per hour. Following a 90-day probationary period, said position will receive an evaluation with the possibility of an hourly rate adjustment up to $20.00 per hour. Additional work hours will require consultation with the appointed pastor.
Personal Sick Time:
Shall be 30 hours per year and will roll over to the following year. At the end of the second year, it will be paid out down to 30 hours as an incentive for good attendance.
Paid Holidays:
The following is a list of the paid holidays if they fall on a regular workday: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Easter Monday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and 4 days (or up to 30 hours) between Christmas & New Year's when the office is closed.
