This recruitment is for a position that will work in the East Kern Region locations include Lake Isabella, Ridgecrest, and Mojave . Candidates must indicate their willingness to work in Ridgecrest, Lake Isabella, and Mojave or their application will be rejected. Candidates MUST be willing to travel to these locations.Salary:
Level I:
$2,054.14-$2,454.89;Level II:
$2,159.18-$2,580.42; paid bi-weeklyEXAMINATION SCHEDULE
An initial screening of applications will result in a written examination. Subsequent testing dates will be posted as applicable.Examinations:
Written Exam (Weight 100%) Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicant's knowledge of socioeconomic conditions and trends; basic principles of individual and group behavior; principles of interviewing and problem solving; effective public speaking and public relations methods; cultural diversity. Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the exam process. This position works within the Department of Human Services of Kern County. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science or related field OR a Bachelor's degree and six months experience equivalent to a Human Services Technician I, Job Developer I, Eligibility Worker, or Program Specialist I in the Kern County classification system. Poss ession of a valid California Driver's License is required. Incumbent must have the ability to travel to designated locations. Please ensure applicable materials are attached to your application. Social Service Worker I Social Service Worker II Bilingual (English/Spanish) Applicants must submit a bilingual (English/Spanish) certificate before the final filing deadline. Applicants who wish to be considered for bilingual employment must submit a bilingual certificate issued by the Kern County Human Resources Division or its authorized agent, Bakersfield College. This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made within the Department of Human Services. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
