Middle School Academic Coordinator Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Middle School Academic Coordinator to join our team and lead the implementation of a comprehensive academic support, enrichment, and counsel program for MH360 middle school students. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the academic growth and personal skill development of our students, working closely with the Program Director, Health and Wellness Coordinators, Academic Coordinators, Mentor Coordinator, Postsecondary Advisors, teachers, and families. This position is classified as Exempt. Salary range $60k-$62k Benefits included: healthcare by Kaiser Permanente, vision by United, dental by Delta.
Days off per year:
Approximately 32 days off following the DPS calendar. Additionally, employees get 6 PTO days as described in the handbook. Specific Oversight The Middle School Academic Coordinator is accountable for the following: Designing and Implementing an Academic Support Program Develop and implement an engaging and relevant enrichment curriculum that includes project based learning and supports postsecondary and career readiness, career and technical education, and service learning Direct and support the middle school tutoring program during the school year Develop and implement dynamic summer programming, including coordination of internal academic opportunities, coordination of external summer academic opportunities, and support for High School, Postsecondary Mentoring, and Health and Wellness Coordinators with summer programming Coordinating Annual Recruitment Efforts Participate in creating and implementing an effective recruitment plan Organize recruitment efforts, events, and materials Communicate with students, parents, and teachers to support recruitment efforts Providing Overall Program Support Organize and help administer community service projects and local educational field trips, and develop service learning programming for the summer Support the distribution of daily meals to students Participate in team events and trips Assist with transportation (15 passenger van) to and from after school programming as needed Implementing an Effective Volunteer Management System Recruit and support daily volunteer tutoring help Coordinate and supervise individual tutors Building Strong Relationships with MH360 Stakeholders Build and maintain meaningful relationships with MH360 students and their parents, teachers, volunteers, and mentors Communicate with students and parents about program participation, attendance, and learning and development as needed Communicate with teachers and school support staff regarding issues related to learning and development Assist in planning and coordinating parent support and outreach activities Skills and Qualifications Spanish fluency required Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, families, teachers, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds Experience working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team Experience 1-3 years of experience working with students from historically underserved communities. Classroom experience is strongly preferred but not required. Experience navigating under resourced school districts.
