07/31/2026 School Social Worker CREC's John J. Allison Jr. Polaris Center, in East Hartford, is seeking a Certified School Social Worker to work with students who have social-emotional regulation deficits and behavioral challenges. The Polaris Center serves students in grades K-12 from greater Hartford and surrounding regions. The School Social Worker will perform diagnostic evaluations, assist in designing comprehensive treatment and intervention plans; provide individual and group counseling as well as crisis intervention; case management; PPT participation and reports in; acts as a liaison with State agencies, courts, probation, parole departments and other community based providers; review progress of IEP goals and objectives with members of a multidisciplinary team. Requirements Requires a Master's degree in Social Work and current CT certification (071) as a School Social Worker. Must have at least two years of experience in an educational or clinical setting working with behavior-disordered children and/or adolescents. Requires a high level of knowledge and specialized skills to address complex and multifaceted clinical needs for a diverse student population. Will consider individuals with a MSW who meet the eligibility criteria for the CT school social worker educator license (071). Or individuals who meet the following criteria:
  • has a BA,
  • at least 12 credits in the subject area and
  • is enrolled in a state approved program leading to the completion of a CT MSW program.
