Performance Responsibilities:
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
(1) Serve as a liaison between the home, the school, and the community. (2) Adhere to the NASW Code of Ethics, School Social Work Standards, and demonstrate the NASW core values. (3) Provide evidence-based education, behavior, and mental health services to support academic and behavior outcomes. (4) Serve as leaders and consultants in promoting positive school climate. (5) Conduct assessments of individuals, families and systems/organizations with the goal of improving student social, emotional, behavioral, and academic concern. (6) Advocate for students and their families by helping them gain access to and effectively use formal and informal community resources that enable families to self-advocate. (7) Pursue continuous enhancement of knowledge and skills to provide the most current, beneficial, and culturally appropriate services to staff, students, and families. (8) Ensure that students and their families are provided services within the context of multicultural understanding and competence. (9) Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential records that document services. (10) Serve as active members of the School Intervention Teams (SIT) and Problem Solving Teams (PST) associated with Crisis, Threat Assessments, Mental Health, and attendance. (11) Perform job responsibilities with sustained focus and attention to detail for extended periods of time. (12) Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
Physical Requirements:
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force as frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
Qualifications:
( 1) Bachelor's Degree in Social Work with certification/eligibility in School Social Work (2) Master's Degree in Social Work (preferred) (3) Experience working with students in the K-12 school system (4) Completion of Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) program within first year of employment (5) Employer conducts Background Check and Drug Testing as a condition of hire
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of School Social Worker functions and responsibilities to fulfill job requirements. Ability to work successfully in crisis situations that may be stressful and/or confrontational. Ability to organize, prioritize, and respond to multiple tasks. Knowledge of and ability to facilitate interagency services to meet student, school and home needs. Ability to work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision.
