Description Are you flexible, energetic, and love working with young children? Join the Miami Children's Museum as a Preschool Floater and play a vital role in supporting classrooms, museum activities, and daily routines that nurture learning, curiosity, and creativity. Miami Children's Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational institution, which meets the needs of all children in our multicultural community. The Museum offers interactive exhibits, programs and learning materials related to arts, culture and our community. Miami Children's Museum encourages visitors of all ages to play, learn, imagine and create together.
Position Overview:
The Preschool Floater is a key member of our early childhood team, providing support across multiple preschool classrooms and museum spaces. This dynamic position requires adaptability, a positive attitude, and a passion for helping children grow in a safe and engaging environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Step in for Lead Teachers when needed to maintain consistency in care and learning. Assist with classroom activities, projects, and transitions to ensure smooth daily operations. Provide support with classroom management and interact with children to promote developmental progress. Help facilitate educational play and experiences in the museum gallery spaces. Assist during family-style dining, including meal prep, distribution, and encouraging positive social behavior at mealtime. Keep learning environments clean, organized, and ready for daily use. Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure classrooms run efficiently and meet children's needs. Follow all school and museum policies regarding health, safety, supervision, and child development best practices. Perform other duties as needed to support the success of the program. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or 45 DCF hours. Experience working with young children in a preschool or similar setting. Degree in related field (early childhood education, education, etc.) preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and staff. Flexibility to adapt to various roles and environments, including classroom support and museum activities. Demonstrated patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude. CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain. Must pass a Level 2 background screening (fingerprints) and drug test.
