After School Program Counselor Blessed Sacrament Catholic School - 5.0 Savannah, GA Job Details Part-time From $16 an hour 2 hours ago Qualifications General academic student support Student supervision Outdoor work experience Classroom management Experience working with middle schoolers Working with students Homework assistance Mobile devices Full Job Description Blessed Sacrament School (BSS), https://bss-savannah.org/discover-bss/, a Catholic coeducational institution in Savannah, GA, with approximately 460 students, seeks innovative and compassionate individuals who are comfortable leading grade specific groups of children and who can create and execute exciting activities. Extended Day Program (EDP) counselors are accountable for working as a team to ensure that the children have fun and safe time after school. This position is excellent for anyone who has childcare experience as well as a passion for working with children! EDP serves enrolled BSS students in grades PreK-4 through 8th grade. Students are grouped based on grade level, and no more than two grade levels are paired together. EDP operates on the Blessed Sacrament School calendar (no weekends or holidays); Monday-Friday from 2:00PM-6:00PM.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Personal philosophy, value, and lifestyle, which are consistent with a position in a Catholic school
- Must be able to physically move throughout the day, actively engaging the children; while performing duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, climb flights of stairs, and must be able to carry 25 pounds
- Must be willing to work both inside and outside, weather permitting
- Must be comfortable around children and able to assist with homework as needed
- Works well on a team
- Energetic, patient, and an effective communicator
- Should be willing to create art projects with the children and assist them as needed
- Experience operating an iPad/other technology, or the ability to learn
