Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Social Worker (if LSW) will assist attorney(s) to assess clients' personal and social needs and circumstances. The Social Worker will work directly with clients who have a variety of different backgrounds and issues, ranging from care home placement for elderly individuals to addressing needs of special needs individuals. The Social Worker will work directly with the attorneys and other staff to prepare for new client cases and upcoming cases involving conservatorship/guardianship, trustee and probate administration cases. A Social Worker may advocate for a client's needs, provide resources, assist clients with benefits, resolve housing issues, assist with budgeting and other services as may be requested. This position is located at Maximum Legal Service Corporation (MaxCorp), a Hawaii non-profit corporation located in downtown Honolulu. This position may be full-time or part-time but requires a minimum of 30 hours per week. In person attendance during office hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) is a requirement for this position. Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Pay:
- $27.88 to $32.00, depending on education and experience.
- Opportunity for annual bonus determined by time in service and performance, and subject to budget approval.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May direct the work of clerical employees in lower job classifications.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
- Drafts letters, email updates, and case log updates, as needed.
- Researches and analyzes government benefits or other social benefits for clients; provides written or oral analysis to attorneys.
- Interviews clients and other interested persons and prepares summaries of their statements.
- Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include case logs or personal items from clients.
- Assists attorneys with administration services, which may include attending meetings.
- Develops and maintains records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.
- Monitors changes to government guidelines or regulations and submits reports on pertinent changes or updates.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Master in Social Work.
- LSW (licensed by the State of Hawaii)
- Some related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
