South Central Iowa Community Action Program (SCICAP) is a nonprofit organization serving families across Clarke, Decatur, Lucas, Monroe, and Wayne counties. Our Early Head Start program delivers home-based services to pregnant women and families with children from birth to age three, helping children grow and thrive in safe, nurturing environments.
Position Summary:
As an Early Head Start Home Visitor in Chariton, you will work one-on-one with families to support their child's development and help them achieve their goals. This position is perfect for someone who is compassionate, organized, and passionate about early childhood development and family engagement.
What You'll Do:
Provide weekly home visits to families, focusing on child development, parenting, and family well-being Deliver a research-based curriculum to support school readiness and promote parent-child interaction Offer prenatal education and support to expectant parents Conduct developmental screenings and assessments for infants and toddlers Help families set personal and parenting goals, and connect them to community resources Plan and facilitate twice-monthly socialization group experiences for enrolled families Collaborate with a supportive team and participate in ongoing training and coaching Maintain complete and accurate records in accordance with
Head Start Performance Standards What We're Looking For:
Required:
Home-Based CDA credential OR equivalent in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or related field or willing to obtain within one year of employment.
Preferred:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or related field Experience working with infants and toddlers, and supporting families in home or community settings A warm, strengths-based communication style and strong organizational skills A valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance Must pass background checks, including child abuse and criminal history screening Why Choose SCICAP?
