Job Description

Overview Van Buren County Hospital is seeking a compassionate and motivated Parent Educator to join our nationally recognized Parents as Teachers (PAT) program. As a Parent Educator, you'll partner with families of young children throughout Van Buren County, providing education, encouragement, and resources that help children develop the skills they need for lifelong success. Through home visits, developmental screenings, and parent education, you'll make a lasting impact on children and families in our community. The position supports families through home visits, developmental screenings, parent education, and connections to community resources, consistent with the Parents as Teachers program. Responsibilities Conduct home visits using the Parents as Teachers curriculum. Educate and support parents in child development and positive parenting practices. Complete developmental and health screenings for enrolled children. Connect families with community resources and support services. Plan and facilitate parent group meetings and educational activities. Maintain accurate documentation and program records. Recruit and engage eligible families throughout Van Buren County. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and qualifying experience. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to work independently while maintaining a flexible schedule. Preferred Experience working with young children and families. CPR/First Aid and Mandatory Reporter certification, or the ability to obtain after hire. Why Join VBCH?
