Job Description

Mini O'Beirne Crisis Nursery provides 24 hour emergency child care for children who may be at risk of child abuse or neglect, or whose parents are experiencing some type of crisis. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Childcare workers provide expert care to all children, up to age 7. Our Nursery Support Specialists are welcome liaisons for clients when they call and come through our doors. They must have excellent customer service skills. The Nursery has an immediate opening for a
PART TIME
Morning Nursery Support Specialist. The hours for this position are Monday-Friday 6:30am-9:30am.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Effectively communicate with families in crisis over the phone while maintaining composure, confidentiality, and respect.
  • Coordinate complex scheduling and management for crisis childcare.
  • Act as the welcome officer to the nursery welcoming families and accepting donations.
  • Assure that the nursery has proper coverage as outlined by DCFS and notify the on-call worker if more coverage is needed for an emergency situation.
  • Complete with accuracy the daily intake and discharge information for new and returning families admitting children to the Crisis Nursery.
  • Review client files at intake to ensure proper documentation for permanent client records, and update our electronic system in a timely manner.
  • Receive and sort through incoming donations and put away appropriately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the intake office.
  • Provide direct childcare support as needed.
  • Assure appropriate maintenance of the nursery and request supplies and repair as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Minimum of 8 hours of college credits, preferably in child care, social work, sociology, or education.
  • Must have two years of full-time experience working with the public and/or children.
  • Must be self-efficient and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must demonstrate skill in working with children with diverse developmental needs using a trauma-informed, strength-based approach.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work professionally and efficiently in cooperation with administration, staff, and persons external to the program.
  • Show attention to cultural competence in all manner of family and community engagement.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.

$18.30/hour

Paid Time Off (1 hour for every 40 hours worked) and time and a half for working on
