Purpose of the Role The Director of Family Ministries will partner with church staff, volunteers, parents, and caregivers to cultivate a vibrant ministry with children, youth, and families. This role focuses on spiritual formation, relationship-building, volunteer development, and creating opportunities for children, youth, and families to grow in faith together. The Director will help nurture a culture where young people know they belong, are deeply loved by God, and are encouraged to discover their gifts and calling. The Haven is seeking a relational and creative leader who enjoys working with people of all ages and can help imagine new possibilities for ministry in partnership with families, volunteers, and church leadership. • Help connect young people and families into the life of the congregation. Primary Areas of ResponsibilityChildren's Ministry (Birth - 5th Grade)
• Provide leadership and coordination for children's ministry.
• Partner with volunteers to create safe, engaging, and meaningful experiences for children.
• Encourage age-appropriate faith formation opportunities.
• Support Sunday morning programming and other children's ministry activities as appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with Safe Sanctuaries and child protection policies. Youth Ministry (6th - 12th Grade)
• Provide leadership and support for youth ministry.
• Build relationships with youth and their families.
• Encourage spiritual growth, service, and community among youth.
• Coordinate youth gatherings, retreats, mission opportunities, and special events as appropriate.
• Help youth become active participants in the life of the church. Family Discipleship & Intergenerational Ministry
• Encourage and support parents and caregivers in the spiritual formation of their children.
• Develop opportunities for families to grow in faith together.
• Foster connections between generations within the congregation.
• Help families build meaningful relationships within the church community. Volunteer Development
• Recruit, train, encourage, and support volunteers serving with children and youth.
• Cultivate healthy volunteer teams and leadership structures.
• Provide communication, resources, and encouragement for ministry volunteers.
• Help create sustainable ministry systems that empower others to lead. Community Engagement and Events
• Collaborate with volunteers and staff to develop outreach opportunities and special events for children, youth, and families.
• Support seasonal activities, community-building events, retreats, and service opportunities.
• Help create welcoming pathways for new families entering the life of the church.

Qualifications Qualifications include:

• Active Christian faith and commitment to spiritual growth.
• Alignment with the mission, values, and culture of The Haven.
• Experience working with children, youth, families, or related ministry settings.
• Strong relational and communication skills.
• Ability to recruit, encourage, and support volunteers.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
• Understanding of child development, youth development, and family systems preferred.

Ministry Posture The Haven believes children, youth, and families are not simply the future of the church. They are an essential part of the church today. The person serving in this role will be encouraged to bring their own gifts, creativity, passions, and leadership style to the ministry. Existing programs may be continued, adapted, or reimagined as the congregation discerns God's leading together. This role is less about maintaining programs and more about building relationships, nurturing faith, equipping volunteers, and helping create a community where people of all ages experience belonging, healing, and hope.
