Immediately Job Description Barker Middle School Position Summary The Middle School Athletic Coordinators (AC) oversees, coordinates, and supports all aspects of the interscholastic athletic programs at Barker Middle School or Krueger Middle School. This position works collaboratively with school administration, the Middle School City Wide Athletic Director, coaches, officials, and support staff to ensure safe, well-organized, and educationally sound athletic experiences for student-athletes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set up, monitor, oversee, and tear down all school-specific athletic contests.
  • Monitor/manage gameplay and fan activity during athletic contests.
  • Support and assist middle school athletic coaches with athlete paperwork, eligibility requirements, and required documentation via the use of FinalForms.
  • Coordinate facilities, game workers, and all associated contest details.
  • Ensure contest logistics are met by arranging transportation and facilities as necessary.
  • Coordinates transportation requests for all away athletic events.
  • Helps to recruit coaches, event supervisors, and event workers in collaboration with school administration and the Middle School City Wide Athletic Director.
  • Assist coaches with programmatic concerns and parent/community issues related to athletics.
  • Monitor athletes' safety and well-being under the direction of the coach.
  • Ensure safe, timely, and productive practices for each sport.
  • Ensure injuries are appropriately documented and that coaches are aware of and follow all safety and injury-reporting guidelines.
  • Ensure safety equipment, first aid kits, and emergency contact forms are obtained, properly prepared, and distributed.
  • Evaluate, maintain, supply, and request repairs to athletic equipment as needed.
  • Make recommendations regarding athletic facility upgrades and upkeep.
  • Ensure coaches have received the athletic handbook and follow all guidelines as outlined in the handbook.
  • Keeps accurate contact information of all coaches and in conjunction with Central Office and makes sure all paperwork has been completed before coaches/volunteers work with student-athletes.
  • Attend meetings with principals and high school athletic directors as required. Qualifications
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of middle school athletic programs, eligibility requirements, and safety practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, coaches, parents, and community members.
  • Commitment to student-athlete safety, sportsmanship, and educational values.
  • Learning Eventlink facility/scheduling software.
  • Learning FinalForms management software.

Athletic Event Set Up:
As a general rule, the gym should be set up up 60min prior to Event start time. A set time (45min prior) should be in place for when the doors open for ticket sales. The ticket taker should report no later than 10min prior to that established time. Athletic Coordinators for Barker and Krueger Events (should have radios for all events):
  • Double check event date/start time with opposing school(s) and/or MS AD prior to event.
  • Ensure a cash box is prepared and placed in Concession stand along with a radio.
  • Concession stand is set up and filled with concession items.
  • Ensure a ticket cashbox is prepared and given to ticket taker along with a radio.
  • Scoreboard controller turned on and set up on scorer's table (radio would be helpful here as well in case the coordinator has to step out of the gym).
  • Athletic Coordinator should be in the gym monitoring while the event is in progress. Custodial responsibilities (that night's custodial point of contact should have a radio with them):
  • Ticket taker table with 1 chair set up between gym entrance and school main entrance.
  • Scorer's Table set up in gym across from bleachers along with 2 matching chairs.
  • 12 matching chairs put in a line on each side of the scorer's table for use as the team benches.
  • Gym floor dust mopped before (& after) the event. Gym floor
  • Bleachers set out before (& after) the event.
  • Trash cans placed near gym entrances and team benches before event / cleaned out after the event.
  • Ticket taker table, scorer's table and team chairs put away after event.
