POSITION TITLE
Social Worker
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR
Director of Social Workers Principal of assigned school
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree (M.S.W.) in Social Work and appropriate licensure as required by the IDOE. Candidate must have competencies in social work theory, social work methods, group dynamics, community organization, psychology and family counseling. Social worker must have ability to work well with students and adults. Candidate must have three years prior social work experience with schools, private or public agency. Duties may include evening and weekend work on occasion.
DUTIES:
Coordinate social services to students, parents, administrators, teachers, and community agencies; liaison between school and community. Provide individual and group counseling of students and parents. Apply resources of the schools and community to solve student problems. Serve on committees and agency boards that relate to student/family populations. Serve on school committees including Student Assistance Team. Prevention/intervention, advocacy, consultation with regard to student needs. Develop and facilitate various support groups, parenting classes, and in-service training for teachers. Work with and coordinate 504 plans and Behavior Intervention Plans for students. Submit abuse and neglect referrals to the Department of Child Services. Individual assessment and intervention. Support group services. Classroom presentations on relevant social work topics. Teacher consultation and/or in-service training. Parenting classes or parent education programs. Social work liaison between school and community organization. Other duties as assigned by administration.
