Caseworker 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars Amherst, MA 01002 $38,400 a year Center for Human Development 224 reviews $38,400 a year Center for Human Development (CHD) is looking for a Spanish speaking Outreach Caseworker for our Family Outreach of Amherst, a program in Amherst, MA, to assist at-risk, low-income families with housing, benefit retention, immigration, substance abuse, domestic violence, parenting, and other issues struggling families face. We value employees who are patient, empathetic and committed to making positive impacts in the lives of others Job Duties Assist families in crisis to identify the cause of their crisis and work with them to take steps to address and find solutions to the crisis Help families identify positive resources in their community and gain access to these resources Provide transportation to appointments and meetings as appropriate Assist head of family to schedule team meetings so that all providers and family members are communicating regularly Provide advocacy, information, and referrals to individuals who call the agency seeking assistance This is a home visiting casework position with services provided in the home, community, and in the office. Duties will include taking families to appointments, coaching them on life skills and providing advocacy as needed. A good understanding of the effects of trauma and social justice issues is a must. Requirements 2 years' experience working with at-risk families and providing case management and client advocacy A working knowledge of social justice and poverty issues An understanding of how trauma affects parents and children Be able to juggle numerous tasks at once Ability to maintain accurate, confidential client records Strong verbal and written communication skills are important Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for work purposes Take advantage of our competitive salary of $38,400 annually complimented along with a phenomenal benefits package that includes Dental, Health and Life insurance.
