NOTICE OF VACANCY
POSITION:
HEAD START HIPPY HOME VISITOR
LOCATION:
As assigned by the Program Coordinator or Grant Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
The HIPPY Head Start Home Visitor is responsible for initiating and maintaining weekly home visits with families participating in the Home Base option of the Head Start Program. They will provide case management for families of three-year old children. This will include conducting and monitoring developmental screens; working with families to establish Individual Family Support Plans; providing Parent-Child activities; and collecting and imputing data for each family. This activity will occur primarily within the family's home and be intensive (each visit should last for at least ninety minutes). The HIPPY Head Start Home Visitor will role play new activities, report on each family's progress, and discuss any problems encountered in home visits. The HIPPY Head Start Home Visitor may also facilitate parenting support groups to encourage the development of additional support systems, as well as increase the knowledge base of families within the community.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

At the time of employment, the candidate must have: Two years of college, with preference given to applicant with Bachelor's Maturity and experience in successfully working with children (3-5 years of age) and their Knowledge of normal child growth and development as well as parent-child Ability to plan and organize group meetings and special Ability to motivate parents and the ability to learn and practice HIPPY Ability to establish and maintain personal/programmatic boundaries, while providing supportive Ability to demonstrate and assist families with setting up learning stations in a home environment Knowledge of community Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to individuals who may not share basic commonality, including value system and behavior Experience working in culturally diverse communities and Ability to understand and communicate effectively using both verbal and written Good writing and organizational skills Such alternatives to the above qualifications as Calvert County Public Schools (CCPS) may find appropriate and acceptable. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Maintain regular family contact as required by individual levels and assigned by the Program Coordinator and/or Demonstrate and assist families in setting up learning stations in the home Role play new activities with the Administers the ASQ and Brigance Screening for each child in the Initiates referral to the Infant Toddler Program when developmental delays are observed or Assess and report family progress. Report problems encountered during home Maintain a dependable, punctual work schedule appropriate to the needs of the HIPPY/Head Start/CCPS Work within the program guidelines to meet the needs of families and of the program, which can include late afternoon appointments. Evening or weekend appointments need to be approved by the program Comply with all HIPPY/Head Start and CCPS Policies and Attend and participate in staff meetings and training as Thinks, concentrates, and positively interacts with Comes to work promptly every day. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.
FLSA STATUS
Exempt.
EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION
Eleven (11) month position; $21.10 per hour; employment is contingent upon continued grant funding and need. References must be directly related to educational experience and must include immediate supervisor. State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
