Job Description

Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a School Social Worker supporting elementary students in both general and special education settings. In this full-time role located near East Lansing, MI, you'll connect with young learners, educators, and families to help build a thriving and inclusive school community. Bring your passion for advocacy and collaboration, and make a difference by empowering students to overcome social, emotional, and academic barriers. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in school-based social work and enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Valid School Social Worker certification or licensure in Michigan Previous experience working in K-12 schools (elementary preferred) Familiarity with special education processes, including IEP implementation Strong assessment, counseling, and intervention skills Excellent communication and organization abilities Dedication to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments and provide direct support to general and special education students Participate in IEP and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) meetings Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop student plans Offer crisis intervention, individual/group counseling, and behavioral intervention strategies Facilitate programs that promote emotional and social well-being Maintain accurate documentation for compliance and reporting purposes
