Job Description

Position Overview The Youth Enrichment Services (YES) Center is seeking a reliable, positive, and youth-focused individual to serve as our Youth Coordinator. The YES Center is a nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that provides a safe, welcoming after-school environment for students in grades 7-10. The Youth Coordinator is responsible for supervising students, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere, planning engaging activities, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the center. This position works closely with the YES Center Board of Directors to further the organization's mission of providing a safe, supportive space where youth can learn, connect, and grow. Schedule
  • Monday-Thursday
  • 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM
  • YES Center student hours: 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM
  • Closed when school is not in session Responsibilities
  • Supervise and engage with approximately 10-15 students daily
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment
  • Enforce student expectations and policies
  • Plan and lead activities, games, and enrichment opportunities
  • Encourage positive social interaction and life skills development
  • Assist with homework support and mentorship as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility
  • Occasionally apply ice melt during winter conditions
  • Communicate with the YES Center Board as needed Activity Examples Past activities have included:
  • Cooking and baking
  • Arts and crafts/coloring days
  • Pool tournaments and game days
  • Holiday parties and themed events
  • Teaching practical skills such as sewing Activities can be adjusted based on the coordinator's interests and skills. Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must pass a background check
  • Dependable, responsible, and organized
  • Comfortable working with youth grades 7-10
  • Positive attitude and strong communication skills
  • Ability to create a welcoming and supportive environment Compensation This is an independent contractor position.
The selected candidate will be paid as a 1099 contractor (not a W-2 employee) and is responsible for any applicable taxes associated with their compensation. Payment is issued once monthly, currently on the third Wednesday of each month, though the payment date may be adjusted as needed. Compensation will be discussed during the interview process. About the YES Center All students are welcome at the YES Center regardless of gender identity, race, ethnicity, or background. Students attending the YES Center must complete a membership application with parent/guardian permission and agree to follow the YES Center Student Expectations.
