Full-time | Salary Accepting applications until April 30, 2026. Wellspring Lutheran Services is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to serving seniors, families and children throughout Michigan. We are currently seeking a Education Specialist to join our New Directions team in Livonia. Responsibilities Register the residents in school; arrange for necessary supports for successful school transition. Enroll residents to school, jobs or training sites to establish or maintain proper relationships between the school setting and the program. Supervise class attendance, monitor academic progress and act as an agency representative at IEPS, METS and other functions required for special education students. Provide crisis counseling around school behaviors to reduce suspensions. Assist in determining the vocational needs of each resident as he/she enters the program and seeks out and enlists the support of community resources in meeting the educational and vocational needs of the resident including post-placement resources. Prepare education reports for service plans. Enter contacts into service plans. Coordinate work of EPIC tutors and provide supplemental tutoring for residents Plan for and conduct appropriate educational field trips during school vacations. Develop and coordinate 10 week summer program for residents. Provide support to the clinical team which may include carrying a small caseload (case management and therapy), conducting groups or providing contract required aftercare services. Assist with intake planning by gathering all materials and records from previous placements (testing, IEPs, report cards etc.) necessary to complete an assessment of each incoming residents' academic needs. Secure any additional clothing, book bag, school supplies; hygiene supplies, or any other material necessary during the school day. Monitor the success and needs of the student through regular reading of daily progress reports carried home from the teacher. Establish procedures for personnel to keep school and teacher informed of critical medical/familiar/legal activities and events in the life of a resident that might affect school behavior/performance. Promote collaboration between teacher and residential program. Develop individualized motivational behavior contracts and incentives that engage students. Engage and include parents of residents in the educational process whenever possible and appropriate. Attend and contribute to the multi-disciplinary team meetings. Provide feedback to the psychiatrist regarding residents' school functioning when so requested. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education, social work or related human service field A Michigan drivers license with a clean driving record and current auto-insurance Experience working with cognitively impaired, emotionally impaired, and/ or physically impaired or otherwise developmentally disabled youth in a special education or residential treatment service setting Experience working with children who have experienced significant trauma, loss and separationSchedule and Compensation Shift:

Full-time, 40 hours per weekWeekends:
None On-call:
No weekend/evening on-call; will have an a Wellspring cellphone to answer and navigate phone calls from the schools during school hours.On-site:
