Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Exciting opportunity for a licensed School Social Worker to support students and staff for a maternity leave coverage during the upcoming school year. This contract role is located near Marshall, MI, running from October through the 2026-2027 academic year. The position is full-time, offering up to 40 hours per week, making it a great fit for professionals passionate about helping young people succeed in their educational journey.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Michigan School Social Worker certification (must be current; please submit upon application) Demonstrated experience working in K-12 school environments Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and other student support services Professional, reliable, and able to adapt in a dynamic school setting
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver counseling and social work services to students, both one-on-one and in group settings Collaborate closely with educators, counselors, and administration to identify student needs and create effective support plans Support students navigating social, emotional, and behavioral challenges to facilitate academic and personal growth Act as a resource for families, connecting them to community or district resources where appropriate Assist with crisis intervention and prevention programs as needed Maintain accurate, confidential documentation in compliance with school and district policy This full-time maternity leave position offers the chance to make a direct and meaningful impact within a vibrant educational community.
