QUALIFICATIONS
M.A., Ed.
S. or Ph.D. in Social Work Current Michigan School Social Worker License / Full approval A minimum of three (3) years of satisfactory professional experience (preferred) Experience supporting an ASD program or classrooms (preferred) Expertise in MTSS - identifying research-based Tier I, II and III academic and behavioral interventions Excellent interpersonal skills - relates to a diverse school community Effective consultative skills Demonstrated competency in organizational and time management skills Demonstrated leadership and resourcefulness Knowledge of effective crisis prevention and crisis response training Experience working with staff to create successful academic and behavioral plans Experience providing training to staff related to behavioral issues Demonstrated commitment to working as part of a team in meeting the needs of all students Ability to effectively plan for and conduct IEP meetings Demonstrated record of meeting all federal, state and local requirements pertaining to special education, IDEA Experience working across multiple age/grade levels (preferred) Experience working with both special education and general education students Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong attention to detail Understanding of building level Intervention Teams Proven record of establishing positive and collaborative relations with staff, parents and students Effective practices for working with students of all ability levels, able to differentiate strategies based on student need Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement Experience using multiple forms of data to make decisions that support student progress and growth Ability to assist and consult with teachers and administrators on a variety of related matters
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide direct services to students in various forms including both individual and group sessions Effectively manage, instruct and counsel students in the school environment Meet all timelines and mandated compliance in completing evaluations, FBAs, IEPs and related documentation Provide consultation, modeling, and coaching to students, parents and staff regarding effective behavioral intervention and techniques Provide coordination and case management services with the school staff, family, outside agencies that work collectively to support the student(s) Maintain confidentiality and comply with all FERPA and HIPAA requirements Develop individual behavioral treatment / support plans including functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans that facilitate effective learning and socialization Identify and coordinate necessary accommodations that allow for access to the general education curriculum Consult with parents, teachers, ancillary staff, administrators, and applicable external professionals in a manner that supports the behavioral and emotional needs of each student that are necessary for educational progress Monitor, document and communicate student progress to classroom teachers, administration and parents Administer standardized and informal assessments Collaborate with administrators, general and special education staff and district consultants to systematically establish Tier II and III interventions for at-risk students Provide crisis prevention and crisis intervention in the school setting Provide periodic parent training and consultation Plan for and facilitate successful transitions for students Participate in interdisciplinary Child Study Team meetings Participate in and periodically lead I.E.P.T meetings Demonstrate excellent skills in verbal and written communication, demonstrating preparation and competence Periodically provide consultation and professional development Prepare reports and data of related interventions/programs Participate in school improvement team efforts Collect and monitor data, assess and report student progress toward goals and objectives Conduct comprehensive student eligibility evaluations and reviews as required by law Conduct work in a manner that demonstrates a commitment to professional practice and procedures Engage in professional development coordinated through the Office of Special Services and building principals Participate in individual school and/or system-wide programs to promote a positive and caring school climate Maintain accurate and appropriate records and documentation Act as a resource to principals and staff Comply with all policies and procedures of the District Contribute and participate in efforts related to school and district goals Take direction from the building and District administration Maintain regular and consistent predictable attendance Perform other relevant duties as assigned by administration
