Job Description

Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference by supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of students across two elementary schools and one preschool classroom. This contract opportunity, based near Portland, MI, offers the chance to connect with approximately 40 students who benefit from dedicated school social work services. Working onsite throughout the school year, you'll collaborate closely with educational staff to identify and address student needs, ensuring a positive and inclusive school environment from August 24, 2026, through May 14, 2027.
Desired Background and Skills:
Current approval by the Michigan Department of Education as a School Social Worker Experience supporting diverse groups of elementary-aged children, including early childhood/pre-K preferred Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, families, and educational staff Confidence in administering and interpreting behavioral and social-emotional assessments Ability to develop and implement individualized strategies to help students succeed both academically and socially
What You'll Be Doing:
Deliver direct social work services for individuals and groups, addressing students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs Consult collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families to promote student well-being and effective interventions Develop and support individualized educational plans as required Document services and maintain compliance with school and state guidelines Provide crisis intervention and serve as an advocate for students needing additional resources This is a fulfilling, onsite role where your expertise can have a lasting impact on young students' lives.
