What they do
A Family, School, or General Social Worker provides specialized assistance to vulnerable families and children. Intervenes in crisis situations; evaluates individual and family needs, helps clients get access to health care, mental health care or social services such as housing assistance. Advocates for clients and provides follow up visits. May work with teachers, parents and school administrators to help students improve academically and deal with social issues such as bullying.

Job Description
Qualifications Education & Experience active LSW preferred but not required Experience working with individuals with mental illness, behavioral health needs, or in assisted living/long-term care settings strongly preferred Skills & Competencies Strong understanding of mental health diagnoses, symptoms, and interventions Ability to de-escalate crisis situations and manage challenging behaviors Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams Working Conditions Frequent interaction with residents experiencing mental health symptoms such as anxiety, depression, psychosis, or behavioral challenges May require response to urgent or crisis situations Combination of office work and time spent in resident living areas
