Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
Job Summary The Aftercare Aide provides a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for elementary students participating in the school's aftercare program. The aide supervises students, facilitates age-appropriate activities, assists with homework and quiet time, supports snack and dismissal routines, and helps create an environment that reflects the values and mission of the Catholic school. The Aftercare Aide works collaboratively with the Aftercare Coordinator, teachers, and school staff to ensure students are well cared for and that the aftercare program operates in a safe, organized, and positive manner.
Job Responsibilities Provide attentive supervision of elementary students throughout the aftercare program. Maintain a safe, caring, and respectful environment consistent with Catholic school values. Monitor student behavior and encourage cooperation, kindness, respect, and appropriate social interactions. Lead and participate in age-appropriate games, crafts, recreational activities, and other enrichment activities. Assist students with homework, reading, and other quiet activities as needed. Supervise snack time and help students follow appropriate cleanliness and safety procedures. Assist with student transitions, including arrival, activities, snack, outdoor/indoor play, and dismissal. Follow established procedures for releasing students to authorized parents, guardians, or designated individuals. Maintain awareness of student needs and communicate concerns to the Aftercare Coordinator or school administration. Help maintain a clean and orderly aftercare environment, including classrooms, activity areas, and common spaces. Follow all school policies and procedures regarding student safety, supervision, discipline, confidentiality, and emergency situations. Serve as a positive role model for students and support the Catholic identity and mission of the school. Assist with other duties related to the aftercare program as assigned by the Aftercare Coordinator or school administration. Job Requirements Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred. Ability to provide patient, attentive, and responsible supervision. Friendly, dependable, and positive attitude. Ability to engage children in age-appropriate activities while maintaining appropriate boundaries. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with school staff and families. Commitment to maintaining student confidentiality and following school safety policies.
