Purpose To ensure the YWCA St. Louis Prenatal Services Program offers, implements, and maintains support to enrolled expectant women and families, throughout their pregnancy, and provide Home-Based services until the child enters a center-based setting. Formal Policy-Setting Responsibilities Formally responsible for making recommendations that may or may not be accepted at a higher level regarding the job's purpose, essential responsibilities, and operation. Routine Decision-Making Determine upcoming birth and transitioning schedules. Utilize electronic family database system to track information related to expectant women. Determine schedule to support home visits and socialization activities. Determine schedule for developmental and sensory screening within 45-days of the child's entry into Early Head Start Home-Based services. Build and maintain community collaborations. Formal Supervisory Responsibility None Description Recruit and enroll eligible expectant women for the program utilizing electronic family records. Document outcomes in the expectant women family records (i.e., application, enrollment, attendance, required documentation, etc.). Provide for expectant women's orientation, pre

• and postpartum assessments, and offer the opportunity to develop culturally competent goals to support expectant women from conception up to 6 months postpartum.

Assist families with identifying, obtaining, and maintaining a medical home, insurance, prenatal care, dental care, well baby visits, screenings and other pertinent medical needs within the first trimester or within 30-days of enrollment, and through pregnancy and delivery. Provide or secure prenatal education on fetal development, healthy eating, benefits of breastfeeding, and the risk presented from drug use including smoking and drinking. Equip expectant families with tools for labor and delivery. Provide postpartum follow-up including, but not limited to, whole self-care, postpartum depression, safe sleep, and family support. Develop a link between other family support agencies to provide better service delivery. Collaborate with Prenatal Service Workers to help families identify and access needed resources including health, mental health, social services, education, and job training. Lead and assist with arrangement, coordination, and implementation of Socialization activities for expectant mothers and families enrolled in program. Work closely with Prenatal Service Manager, other program staff, consultants, and community collaborations to provide comprehensive services to expectant families and actively participate when needed to support the overall program. Provide Early Head Start Home-Based services to families, as needed, and ensure all Early Head Start requirements are met as outlined in the Head Start Program Performance Standards. Act as a liaison, in conjunction with the Prenatal Services Manager, between community organizations and Head Start and Early Head Start consultants providing post-partum care and mental health services. Actively participate in meetings, attend in-service trainings, attend off-site training, stay up to date with health information and health trends as it relates to infant health and infant mortality, etc. Perform other duties as assigned. Must have a working knowledge of local community resources for pregnancy, labor and delivery, and family empowerment. Knowledge of family values, beliefs, traditions, and cultural influences. Expert knowledge of child development focusing on the first years of life. Required Skills or Abilities Effective use of appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication, written communication, listening skills, and interpersonal skills Ability to problem solve. Ability to multitask, demonstrate strong time management, work independently, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. Strong computer skills. Ability to relate well, and coordinate, with people from diverse backgrounds. Ability to maintain accurate records of expectant women enrolled in the program. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Be willing to recruit within the community. Formal Education High School Diploma Doula Certification (required) Must have, or be willing to obtain, a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in either Infant/Toddler or Home Visitor settings, with at least one year of experience providing doula services. Unusual Working Conditions, If Any Execution of home visits in the homes of enrolled families. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds when conducting post-partum home visits. Reliable transportation is required for this position as travel may be required to complete enrollment applications, conduct post-partum assessments, deliver essential baby items, and conduct home visits.
