Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Directs part-time all aspects of the Before/After School Program at a school site.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary -
Program:
1. Plan and coordinate daily activities, including CATCH, STEM and Reading programs. 2. Maintain a safe, nurturing environment, ensuring a high level of program quality. 3. Ensure all program areas and equipment are kept clean and safe. 4. Encourage respect for personal property, program equipment and school facilities. 5. Monitor sign in/sign out procedures for accuracy; maintain daily attendance records. 6. Enforce appropriate safety regulations/emergency procedures. 7. Comply/enforce all Mississippi Department of Human Services licensing requirements. 8. Attend all required staff trainings and weekly site director meetings. 9. Assume other duties identified as program changes/evolves to meet the needs of the families served. 10. Accurately report work time via approved

Children/Parents/School Administration:
1. Establish positive relationships with all program participants and their families and with school administration. 2. Provide positive role models to children and staff within the philosophy of YMCA standards and expectations. 3. Observe children's behavior, assess its appropriateness and apply appropriate behavior management techniques when needed.
Supervisory:
1. Supervise Group Leaders, providing leadership and guidance. 2. Conduct bi-weekly site staff meetings. 3. Assist program director with annual site staff evaluations. 4. Maintain current staff files/records in compliance with DHS standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must be 21 years of age and pass pre-employment background checks/drug screening. 2. Four years of college with 2 years of experience administering a child care/educational program, which includes staff supervisory experience OR 3. Two years of college with 30 hours in business or management, child or youth development, or related field and 2 years experience administering a child care/educational program, which includes staff supervisory experience OR 4. High school diploma with 4 years experience administering a child care/educational program and 30 hours of TECTA administrator or Child Development Associate (CDA); staff supervisory experience. 5. Current CPR/AED, First Aid and Child Abuse Training or obtain with 30 days of hire date.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time. 2. Must be able to lift/carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds. 3. Ability to lift/assist a small to average child. 4. Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking. 5. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate. 6. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
