Immediately Job Description •Please note that this is a Temporary Part-Time position. Work hours will be up to 29 hours per week; schedule may include occasional evenings for school events.• General Definition of Work The Family School Advocate serves as a vital bridge between the school and families, fostering strong communication and meaningful engagement to support student success. This part-time role focuses on building relationships with parents/guardians, with a strong emphasis on supporting Spanish-speaking families and ensuring equitable access to school information and resources. Qualification Requirements Associates degree, 48 hours of college coursework or 5 years of experience in the field. Bilingual in English and Spanish (required). Experience working with diverse families and communities. Prior experience in a school or community-based setting preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Organizational skills and attention to detail. Basic proficiency with email, phone systems, and standard office software. Ability to maintain files and information to compile reports. Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Ability to operate standard office equipment and related hardware and software. Ability to learn specialized equipment and software based on district needs. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff and administration. Salary Pay Grade NC02 Reports to Principal Essential Functions Communicates with other staff members. Serve as a point of contact for parents and guardians, facilitating clear and consistent communication between home and school. Translate written materials and interpret conversations between English and Spanish as needed. Assist Spanish-speaking families in understanding school policies, procedures, and academic expectations. Coordinate and support family engagement activities, meetings, and workshops. Conduct outreach to families to encourage participation in school events and programs. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to address parent concerns and support student needs. Maintain records of parent communication and outreach efforts. Support enrollment, orientation, and transition processes for new students and families. Help connect families with community resources and services when appropriate. Physical Requirements This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force. Work regularly requires speaking or hearing and lifting, frequently requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires using hands to finger, handle or feel and pushing or pulling. Work has standard vision requirements. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound. Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
