After School Care Worker Reports to:
Elementary Assistant Principal Summary:
The After School Care Worker will be responsible for a program that cares for school-aged children. They will ensure the development and safety of these children with proper procedure in place. This role will be respectful of children and parents, and ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe, and well maintained. He/she has a calling in his/her heart to serve God as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; who is assured of his/her personal worth and professional competence, both being in balance with the Scriptures; who leads a consecrated life before the Lord, co-workers, students, and parents, and is a committed follower of Jesus Christ. He/she shows a high degree of professionalism and responsibility in fulfilling his/her ministry as an employee of the Village Christian Academy. It is preferable that church employees consistently attend worship service (virtually or physically) on a regular basis. By doing so, he/she will be more in touch with the life, activities, and patterns of Village Baptist Church .
Responsibilities:
record and monitor number of children participating in after/before school care program responsible for keeping current and accurate sign in/sign out logs confidential ensure equipment and facilities are clean, well maintained, and safe at all times provide adequate equipment and activities ensure nutritious snacks are available for purchase during after school care program maintain supplies, inventory, purchasing, and coordinate daily operations maintain communication with parents on issues of concern or relevance to their children supervise children attending the program and promote safety and respect amongst all participants. This includes monitoring students, being engaged with students, and consistently moving around to ensure safety and student well-being. provide a safe and secure environment provide discipline to children, when needed, in a loving, God-honoring manner implement positive discipline when required in accordance with VCA guidelines clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand be familiar with emergency procedures performs other related duties as assigned by the administration
Professional Qualifications:
CPR Certified high school diploma or equivalent ability to work with children in a respectful, loving, but firm manner good communications skills, written and verbal must have good customer service skills must be able to communicate effectively with staff, parents, and children ability to work independently and be self-directed evaluate staff performance when necessary ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations ability to solve conflicts in a non-judgmental manner assess training needs when necessary You need to be: A team player A problem solver A motivated leader Committed to excellence A great manager of time Hospitable Inspirational communicator; great with interpersonal relationships Committed to the vision and values of the church Focused on growing spiritually and being a committed learner
