A Family, School, or General Social Worker provides specialized assistance to vulnerable families and children. Intervenes in crisis situations; evaluates individual and family needs, helps clients get access to health care, mental health care or social services such as housing assistance. Advocates for clients and provides follow up visits. May work with teachers, parents and school administrators to help students improve academically and deal with social issues such as bullying.

The Opportunity:
We are actively recruiting experienced social workers to join our Adult & Aging Services Intensive Support Social Work Team (ISSWT), supporting county agencies across North Carolina in a variety of Adult & Aging program areas. In this role, you will partner with county agencies and the A4O Consultant Team to deliver high-quality, results-driven services that support the needs of individuals and communities throughout North Carolina. What We're Looking For Minimum 5 years of experience as a Social Worker III or in a supervisory role within NC DSS Strong knowledge of NC policy, practice standards, and quality improvement Ability to work independently while leveraging technology effectively Demonstrated adaptability, emotional intelligence, and change management skills Willingness to travel across North Carolina and maintain a flexible schedule Core Responsibilities Adult Protective Services (APS) Investigate reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation Assess need for protective services and develop safety plans Collaborate with law enforcement, healthcare providers, and community partners Guardianship & Legal Interventions Initiate and manage guardianship proceedings Prepare legal documentation and represent DSS in court In-Home Aide & Support Services Assess eligibility and level of care needs Develop and monitor plans that support safe, independent living Long-Term Care & Special Assistance Evaluate placement needs for adult care homes or nursing facilities Determine eligibility for Special Assistance and Medicaid services Conduct ongoing reassessments Case Management & Collaboration Coordinate with multidisciplinary partners (mental health, housing, healthcare, public health) Provide crisis intervention and long-term case planning Join Us!
