Director of youth and childrens services

The Director of Children and Youth Ministries is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading comprehensive ministry programming for children (nursery through 5th grade), youth (middle school and high school), and their families. This role provides spiritual leadership, volunteer coordination, event planning, and consistent communication to support faith formation, community engagement, and family connection within the church. Key Responsibilities Children's Ministry (Nursery through 5th Grade) Nursery Coordinate and schedule volunteers to ensure consistent nursery coverage. Maintain a well-stocked nursery environment, including toys, snacks, and cleaning supplies. Children's Programming Lead a weekly Children's Moment during worship services. Plan and facilitate monthly Kids on a Mission programming for Pre-K through 5th Organize and oversee monthly Parent's Night Out events. Communicate regularly with parents regarding weekly and monthly programming Sunday School Coordinate volunteers and manage weekly coverage for all Sunday School Prepare, order, and distribute Sunday School curriculum and supplies, including crafts, games, and classroom materials. Develop and write weekly summary lessons with discussion questions for 4th and 5th grade students. Teach Sunday School classes as needed to ensure adequate coverage. Children's Special Events Serve as Coordinator for Vacation Bible School (VBS). Plan and lead special seasonal and milestone events, including: Trunk or Treat One Starry Night Kids Christmas Party Kids-Giving Kindergarten Book Presentation 3rd Grade Bible Presentation Youth Ministry (Middle School and High School) Lead weekly youth group programming for middle school and high school Coordinate volunteer coverage for all youth group meetings. Organize and coordinate meal coverage in partnership with youth families. Maintain consistent weekly communication with parents and students regarding programs, events, and ministry opportunities. Co-teach confirmation classes and assist with retreat planning and preparation for Confirmation Sunday. Conference and Connectional Events Promote, register for, attend, and coordinate logistics for North Carolina Conference youth events, including: Kaleidoscope Global Vision Breakaway Pilgrimage Manage related logistics such as lodging, meals, and travel planning. Youth Special Events Plan and coordinate additional youth-focused events, including but not limited to: Talent Show Youth Sunday Communication and Administration Communicate regularly with parents and families to share ministry updates, event information, and opportunities for involvement. Assist families in getting connected to appropriate programs and ministry Prepare written communications, schedules, and program updates as needed. Facilities and Support Coordinate and assist with setup and preparation of spaces required for ministry programs and events. Ensure ministry environments are welcoming, safe, and well-prepared. Additional Responsibilities Write letters of recommendation for youth and volunteers related to church leadership roles, employment, college applications, and scholarships. Perform other related duties as needed to support the mission and ministries of the church
