Preschool Social Worker focuses on the developmental, social, and emotional well-being of young children (typically ages 35) and acts as a vital bridge between the school, the home, and community resources. The Preschool Social Worker provides clinical and case management services to students and their families to remove barriers to learning. This role involves identifying social-emotional needs, developing intervention plans, and supporting the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans within an early childhood setting.

Direct Student SupportSocial-Emotional Learning (SEL): Deliver age-appropriate instruction on social skills, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution.
Counseling:
Provide short-term individual or small-group counseling for children experiencing behavioral challenges or trauma.
Crisis Intervention:
Offer immediate support for student crises, including de-escalation and safety assessments.
Family & Community EngagementHome Visits:
Conduct home visits to assess family needs and build stronger school-to-home connections.
Resource Coordination:
Connect families with community services such as housing assistance, food pantries, medical insurance, and specialized mental health providers.
Parent Education:
Facilitate workshops on child development, nutrition, and positive parenting strategies.

Collaboration & AdministrationSpecial Education (IEP/504): Participate in evaluation meetings and write social-developmental histories to help determine eligibility for services.
Teacher Consultation:
Advise classroom staff on behavior management techniques and the impact of trauma on early learning.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate, confidential case records and track student progress toward social-emotional goals
