Job Description
Ministry Associate for Children The Reformed Church of Highland Park, Highland Park, NJ 08904
Position Description:
The Ministry Associate for Children at RCHP, in conjunction and communication with the pastoral staff, the Elders and Deacons of the Church, and trained volunteer teachers, provides leadership for Children's Ministries at RCHP. The position is a year-round position, 12 hrs a week.Program Details:
- September-July administration and implementation of Sunday School Programming 12-month guidance of Children's Worship Programming
- Engagement with occasional educational, worship and fellowship programs for children, including summer
Vacation Bible School Location:
- All programming is at the Reformed Church of Highland Park, 19-21 S. 2nd Ave, Highland Park, NJ 08904 Hours and Compensation
- This part-time position will be compensated with a cash salary of $14,664 per year (12hrs x $23.50 x 52).
- There are 2 weeks of paid vacation, and further flexibility with scheduling, as this is a part-time position.
Responsibilities beyond scheduled programming:
- Familiarizing oneself with existing curriculum, researching new educational tools/curricula)
- Recruiting and overseeing teaching teams of 3 for 5 or 6 classes of students for the program year.
- Communicating with children and families (pastoral care, birthday wishes, celebrating milestones) on behalf of the church.
- Engagement in the worship life and education life of the whole church, with an awareness of the social justice and inclusive values practiced at RCHP, so that children's programming might well reflection these same values.
- To engage, with congregants, in the ongoing search for stories and art and ways of expressing faith that speak to the diverse expressions of faith, ethnicities, cultures and expressions of the people of our congregation.
Qualification:
- At least three years of experience working with children in educational settings
- College degree that includes classes on education, child psychology or religious studies
- Strong communications and teamwork skills
