The Albany County Office of the Public Defender is seeking a caseworker who can collaborate with attorneys to help us provide ho- listic, client-centered legal representation to indigent clients involved in family court. Ideal candidates are committed to family defense and have experience helping clients navigate the system while overcoming barriers, reviewing and interpreting psychiatric, educa
- tional, and medical records, maintaining consistent contact with clients, performing field work, and connecting clients with resources for housing, mental health, substance abuse treatment, and other needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EITHER:
A. Possession of a Master's Degree in Social Work and three (3) years of family court advocacy experience; OR B. Possession of a bachelor's degree and five (5) years of comparable experience.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Must possess a valid NYS driver's license at the time of hire and maintain throughout employment.NOTE:

The HELP Program is a temporary program designed to help local government employers address current staffing issues. Traditionally, the titles filled under the HELP Program required job candidates to compete in a competitive exam to be considered for employment. For the duration of the program, this title will be classified as non-competitive and categorized as a "HELP Program" position. At the close of the program, this position will revert to competitive class status. Employees occupying positions filled through the HELP Program will be granted competitive class status without the need to participate in a competitive exam.
