Job Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Collaborates as a member of a diagnostic and therapeutic team and carries out, under the direction of a psychiatrist, casework services to the emotionally, mentally, or otherwise disturbed or handicapped patient; performs related duties as required.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Provides intensive psychiatric casework and counseling services to patients and members of their family. Obtains information from patients, members of the family, outside treatment providers and all other relevant parties to assist the multidisciplinary treatment team in the assessment of patient's emotional and behavioral needs. Provides support casework services during institutionalization, hospitalization or clinical treatment based on psychological or psychiatric diagnosis, and recommended treatments. Prepares case histories, prepares reports and keeps records.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of professional psychiatric casework principles, practices and methodology. Considerable knowledge of individual and group behavior and the interrelationships between social, economic and psychological factors. Knowledge of the more common mental illnesses and their social, economic and psychological implication. Ability to work effectively with people and aid them to grow in the constructive utilization of their capabilities and adjustment to their specific problems. Ability to analyze and interpret case records and recommend logical, sound courses of action. Ability to prepare clear and pertinent reports, both orally and in writing.
Minimum Qualifications:
Training and Experience Master's degree in Social Work from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university. Necessary Special Requirement Continuing possession of a current license as a Master Social Worker (LMSW) or a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), issued by the New York State Education Department. Background Check Information There are two background checks for this position. Selected candidates will be required to pay for their background checks. Total cost for the two background checks is $100. Hours Monday to Friday 5:45am - 1:45pm, Occasional Weekend Shifts Salary Information Non-negotiable starting salary of $57,691 per year. Under the current collective bargaining agreement: Salary increases to $76,895 after six months. Top Salary for the position is $110,316 based upon years of service.
