We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and highly organized Social Worker to support daily operations, staff development, and program excellence. About the Role The Director of Children's Services/Social Worker plays a vital leadership role in supporting the social, emotional, and developmental well-being of children and families within our early childhood education program. Working collaboratively with the Executive Director, Assistant Executive Director, teachers, families, community agencies, and school district personnel, this position provides clinical expertise, consultation, advocacy, and family support while ensuring that children receive the services and resources they need to thrive.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
(include, but not limited to): Oversee all aspects of enrollment of new children in consultation with the Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director Oversee all aspects of children with special needs including: Provide individualized strategies to teaching staff, create behavior modification programs for children in coordination with parents and teachers, provide community resources and make referrals to any services needed. Follow-up on referrals Make referrals to the Early Intervention Committee for Preschool Special Education; provide support to parents negotiating the process; attend CPSE meetings; coordinate with itinerant service providers Create DSS mandated Healthcare Plans for all children with special needs Provide ongoing consultation to the senior administrative staff regarding children who are struggling with social-emotional issues. Provide counseling, crisis intervention, and information and referral services to parents when needed Coordinate and oversee the Teen Parenting Program in coordination with Ossining High School's social worker Coordinate all aspects of the identification and reporting of child abuse and neglect Provide staff development seminars to fulfill licensing requirements Provide weekly Second Steps program (learning strategies, empathy building, anti-bullying) to Pre-Kindergarten classes Create and maintain a Parent-Information library of relevant articles and resources Create informative articles for newsletters Review written teacher evaluations. Coordinate all center wide & individual family sponsored holiday donations and serve as liaison to Food Pantry Present annually to OCC Board of Directors Qualifications
Required:
Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
3-5 years of post-master's professional experience working with young children and families Experience with early childhood education and preschool special education Bilingual (English/Spanish) Why Join Us?
