Job Description

School Social Worker. Special Education Summer School Program from 8 am - 12 pm, 2 to 3 days per week.
Program dates:
7/6/26 - 8/14/26. $50.00 per hour. Job Qualifications NYS certification. Job Description below. A summer program school social worker provides social and emotional support to students during the summer months, addressing potential learning losses and behavioral needs. They may work with students individually or in groups, collaborating with other staff, families, and community resources to ensure students' well-being and academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide Individual and Group Counseling:
Address students' social-emotional needs, including behavioral challenges, academic difficulties, and mental health concerns.
Assess and Intervene:
Evaluate students' needs and develop individualized plans to address their challenges, including interventions and support systems. Collaborate with
Staff and Families:
Partner with teachers, administrators, and families to create a supportive environment for students. Advocate for
Students:
Advocate for students' needs within the school and community, ensuring access to necessary resources and support.
Coordinate and Implement Summer Programs:
Design and deliver summer programs that address learning gaps and provide social-emotional support, potentially including tutoring, enrichment activities, and recreational opportunities.
Facilitate Communication:
Maintain open communication with students, families, and staff to ensure coordinated support and progress monitoring.
Conduct Crisis Intervention:
Provide immediate support to students in crisis situations, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Develop and Implement Support Plans:
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop comprehensive support plans for students with special needs.
Provide Family Education:
Offer workshops or training sessions for families on topics related to student well-being, behavior management, and accessing community resources.
Maintain Records and Reports:
Keep accurate records of student interactions, assessments, and interventions, ensuring compliance with regulations.
