A Family, School, or General Case Manager coordinates the delivery of a range of social and health services to individuals and families. Assess client needs and work with agencies and institutions ensure clients get the help they need. Monitor client and work with other service providers as necessary to address client needs. Provide limited counseling to client and their family.
: The Learning Zone Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Education Director with creating a safe, caring and enriching learning environment for children enrolled in The Salvation Army Kroc Center's Learning Zone. The Coordinator is responsible to provide administrative support for program operations, reporting, and compliance standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:
Administrative Responsibilities:
1. Assist Education Director with the planning and implementation of daily programming for a 40-week before and after-school program and a 10-week summer day camp, including, but not limited to: student transportation, meals & snack, homework time and tutoring, and special programming. Programming should represent the focus areas of the Learning Zone mission: social growth, spiritual growth, academic growth, and emotional growth; 2. Implement the Education Director's plan and direction; help supervise work assigned to staff, volunteers and interns in the director's absence; train and instruct employees in the proper methods and procedures related to the Learning Zone; monitor work and compliance with established policies and procedures; provide input for staff performance evaluations; 3. Coordinate other social and educational opportunities for Learning Zone participants, such as: STEM, arts and music, sports and recreation, etc.; 4. Assist Director in working with the corps officers or Youth Ministry Coordinator to incorporate weekly spiritual ministry for the Learning Zone, such as chapel and corps programming;
Compliance and Reporting Responsibilities:
5. Track and provide regular statistical reports for Learning Zone program participation, including program assessment, and other reporting as needed to maximize program impact and fiscal stewardship and success; 6. Follow through on administrative duties of the position, including consistent Outlook e-mail correspondence; 2 7. Assist Director to ensure the program and staff operate in compliance with state rules, standards, and reporting in all components related to Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) licensing regulations and Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) standards; 8. CACFP - adhere to rules and regulations of program: attend trainings, daily meal service, timely data collection and submission, assist with staff training and menu preparation, as requested; 9. Utilize incident and/or complaint reports, as needed, and ensure that they are filled out correctly and in a timely manner; address issues that may arise with guests and ensure issues are communicated properly to the appropriate staff members;
Programming Responsibilities :
10. Assist to coordinate and monitor ongoing programmatic needs of students' academic progress, assessments and school grade reports, including conducting Literacy Assessments; 11. Help maintain a positive rapport with families and caregivers and positive relationships with children; 12. Help maintain a positive rapport with local schools and teachers; 13. Work collaboratively with the Education Director to plan and implement semester-end events for Learning Zone students and their families to showcase progress and achievements gained through the program and elective opportunities; 14. Offer input as it relates to meeting the needs of the community and schools in the Ashland area; 15. Supervise children attending the program, as needed; 16. Plan, lead and oversee class activities within the program (meals, games, lessons, enrichment opportunities, etc.), as needed; 17. Develop lesson plans for educational and enrichment opportunities within the program, with a particular emphasis on STEAM-focused activities, as needed; 18. Attend and participate in Kroc staff meetings, as assigned by the Administrators/ Corps Officers or direct supervisor; 19. Be sensitive to the spiritual needs of people and offer to refer them to the Corps Officers and/or other spiritual leader at the Kroc Center; 20. Perform other reasonable tasks which may be assigned, as needed; It is imperative to note that since the Learning Zone Coordinator is a non-ordained ministry position, communications made in confidence to the position holder are not considered "privileged" under the law and could be required to be shared in legal proceedings. Care should be taken to ensure this point is clear in relevant situations. The Learning Zone Coordinator should consider him-/herself a mandatory reporter with regard to suspicion of child abuse of any kind, in accordance with state regulations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
: In the Education Director's absence, The Learning Zone Coordinator will assist with the supervision of Learning Zone staff and volunteers. MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
. Must be at least 18 years old. High School Diploma or GED Required. Experience working with children in a childcare, out-of-school time setting. Able to lift and carry 40 lbs. Must be able to stand, stoop, and bend. Meet all health and safety regulations as defined by ODFJS, Health Department, and The Salvation Army. Have a philosophy of education and child development consistent with that of the RJKCCC and The Salvation Army. Have the ability to work and relate well with students, parents, and staff in all situations, including but not limited to: o Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children of all ages o Demonstrate sensitivity to children's individual needs o Ability to use appropriate positive discipline consistently o Dependability
