Domestic Violence Advocate Bowling Green, OH 43402 Full-time Full-time Company Description The Cocoon is Wood County's domestic and sexual violence agency .The Cocoon works to live its vision to be a trusted partner, community leader and transforming voice in Wood County and surrounding areas, committed to ending domestic violence and empowering those affected by it. Job Description The Cocoon is hiring a Domestic Violence Advocate. This position has a focus on working with survivors of domestic violence. An advocate assists survivors by providing crisis intervention, emotional support, medical and legal advocacy, information/education and resources, personal and systems advocacy, group facilitation, and linkage to other needs as presented, utilizing trauma informed care best practices. These services are provided by phone and also in-person through outreaches in safe, neutral settings such as the hospital, police station, court, university, etc. Contacts with survivors will include those of a crisis/emergency nature, as well as assistance on an on-going basis, as established by the survivors' needs. Qualifications Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or 2 years related experience and an ability to work from an empowerment model is required as well as advocacy and communication skills and knowledge and experience serving victims of domestic violence. Bilingual preferred. This staff position rotates being on-call during daytime hours and provides assistance/coverage to other staff as needed. After-hours and weekend on-call are scheduled as the agency's needs arise. Work hours are flexible in order to accommodate necessary evening or weekend hours.
