FIA is a full-time elementary and middle school that was established in 2002 by the Islamic Society of Akron and Kent (ISAK). FIA is located within the Islamic Community Center on 152 E Steels Corners Rd in Cuyahoga Falls. The school aims to provide cutting-edge academic education and strong moral values rooted in a sound Islamic foundation. FIA is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and inspiring Director of Islamic Values and Culture to cultivate and strengthen the school's Islamic identity while supporting a positive, inclusive, and academically focused learning environment. The Director of Islamic Values and Culture serves as the school's spiritual and cultural leader, working collaboratively with school leadership, teaching staff, students, families, and the community to ensure that Islamic principles are thoughtfully integrated into the daily life and culture of the school. This position complements the school's academic leadership by providing guidance in matters of faith, character development, community engagement, and Islamic programming. Primary Responsibilities Islamic Leadership Promote an authentic Islamic environment grounded in the Qur'an and Sunnah. Serve as a resource for Islamic guidance and ethical decision-making within the school community. Lead school-wide Islamic initiatives, assemblies, celebrations, and religious observances. Coordinate prayer schedules and facilitate appropriate religious accommodations. Teach Islamic Studies and support the planning and implementation of character education initiatives. School Culture Foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive school culture that reflects Islamic values. Promote positive student behavior through character development and restorative, Islamic-centered practices. Assist with conflict resolution involving students, families, and staff from an Islamic perspective. Encourage respect, compassion, integrity, accountability, and service throughout the school community. Family and Community Engagement Build meaningful partnerships with parents, local masajid, and community organizations. Organize family engagement activities, educational workshops, and community service opportunities. Represent the school at community events and strengthen relationships with community leaders Staff Support Collaborate with administrators and teachers to integrate Islamic values across the educational experience. Provide orientation and ongoing support regarding the school's Islamic mission and expectations. Encourage professional growth in culturally responsive and faith-informed educational practices. Student Development Serve as a mentor and trusted resource for students. Support student leadership initiatives, service-learning projects, and extracurricular activities. Promote social-emotional development through an Islamic framework.
Qualifications Required:
Graduate degree in Islamic Studies, Education, Leadership, or related field Strong knowledge of the Qur'an, Sunnah, and Islamic character education Arabic language proficiency Valid Ohio Educator license Experience working with children and families Demonstrated leadership experience within an educational, nonprofit, or Islamic organization Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills Ability to work collaboratively with administration, staff, and parents Successful completion of required criminal background checks
Preferred:
Experience working in an Islamic school environment. Experience leading youth, family, or community programs. Knowledge of Ohio charter school operations is a plus.
